While we do not chase accolades for their own sake, the achievements of the Parvis community serve as a testament to the efficacy of our dual-focus philosophy. Our trophy cabinet at 7 Inverlochy Place is a mix of coding hackathon medals, debating cups, and composition awards.
Academic Laurels
- NZ Scholarship Examinations: Consistently, Parvis students punch above their weight. In 2023, despite our small cohort size, we secured 4 ‘Outstanding Scholar’ awards in Economics and Calculus.
- The Treasury Challenge: Our undergraduate team has placed in the top 3 of the National Treasury Universities Challenge for four consecutive years, noted specifically for their unconventional policy recommendations.
Cultural & Artistic Victories
- The Big Sing: Our chamber choir, The Parvis Polyphony, received a Gold Award at the regional finals. What makes this choir unique is that 60% of its members are majoring in Computer Science or Physics, bringing a mathematical precision to their vocal tuning.
- Chamber Music New Zealand Contest: Regular finalists, our student ensembles are known for choosing technically difficult, obscure repertoire rather than crowd-pleasers.
- Design Awards: Two recent graduates were shortlisted for the ‘Wellington Emerging Designer of the Year’ for their work integrating architectural acoustics with interior design.
Alumni Pathways
Our graduates do not simply find jobs; they carve niches.
- Tech Sector: Alumni are currently employed at Xero, TradeMe, and Google (Sydney), often fast-tracked into roles requiring complex data analysis.
- The Arts: Several former students are now playing with the NZSO or working in sound design for Weta Workshop.
- Academia: A high percentage of Parvis graduates proceed to Masters and PhD study at institutions such as LSE, Oxford, and Melbourne University.
